How to cook the perfect pavlova – recipe | Felicity Cloake

This classic dessert adapts to whatever you fancy – fresh fruit, yoghurt, whipped cream or even coffee on your meringue Stalwart of a thousand summer lunch parties, the pavlova, a magnificent billowing cloud of cream and meringue and seasonal fruit, is named after the Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, who visited Australia and New Zealand in 1926. Which Antipodean nation can take credit for it, however, is unclear – though the combination of meringue and cream is far older than Anna herself, both countries claim the pavlova as their own. The safest course to steer seems to be that of Helen M Leach, who, having reviewed the evidence in her book The Pavlova Cake: the Evolution of a National Dish, declares …

The battle of Roach city: day 18

Battling Oriental roaches in a storage unit. So far relying on glass jar traps with bait, diamatecious earth sprinkled everywhere. I also dropped some Dekko silverfish packs but I'm not sure the roaches like them. I'm still catching a few mature roaches daily in jars, two weeks into this. Do I need to add something else with boric acid. I've been trying to keep it non toxic. What is a safe low risk way to add some boric acid. Anyone have a good recipe for boric acid plus food mix? And what type of container is good to deliver it. submitted by /u/New-caspero [link] [comments] Read more:

Attempted to make gluten free Dutch pancakes for my partner.

Dutch pancakes are my all time favorite breakfast food. For those who don’t know what they are, they’re basically crepes, but a little bit thicker and one less ingredient. And wayyyy better, lol. Though I love crepes. Well almond flour was NOT the right flour to use. I ended up with scrambled egg looking pancakes, which tasted of almond and egg? I even used less eggs than the recipe calls for cause I didn’t want it too eggy… Anyone here know of a GF flour that could thicken this recipe up, so it doesn’t flop again? (Quite literally) submitted by /u/tangerineastralplane [link] [comments] Read more:

Thomasina Miers’ recipe for tomato, cheese and tarragon galette | The Simple Fix

Lincolnshire Poacher is a strong, hard cheese that is wonderful melted into the season’s vine tomatoes in this crumbly tart There is a glut of tomatoes and I am making full use of them while I can. Yes, they are available all year, but right now they are ripe, fragrant and bursting with sweetness, making even the simplest of dinners taste great. Roast them in a dry frying pan for salsa; stew them in lots of olive oil for a tomato sauce; or just chop and toss raw on to pasta or serve with fish, garlic, olives and herbs. Cursed recipe video ruins all the best foods by combining them

There’s something incredibly satisfying about the shot-from-above recipe video format, particularly when it ends with a surprising reveal of the end product (and/or a gooey cheese pull). But one food site has created a Franken-dish that’s taken the internet by horrified storm. It’s not just that there are about sixteen too many steps in the assembly of this abomination. It’s also that it seems to have been created as a sort of culinary Exquisite Corpse, each phase taking the “dish” in a new, unpredictable, and unnecessary direction. Where does it all go wrong? Is it the point at which you wonder, “Is this a tortilla lasagne?” (Oh, my sweet summer child. You have barely begun.) Read more… More about Viral …

Easy Instant Pot BBQ Pulled Pork

After writing two cookbooks with a total of 27 (!!) recipes for pulled meat (and five BBQ sauces) in both books, I thought it was rather sad that I didn’t have an Instant Pot Pulled Pork recipe on my site. A total shame, right? It’s a classic recipe that everyone should have in their collection. To be honest, I think it took me so long to do this because… I’ve never been a huge fan of pulled pork. Or pork in general. (Except for bacon. Bacon is life.) Writing and developing pork sections for my cookbooks converted me. Or at the very least made me moderately excited to have pork for dinner. (Especially the Easy Pork Carnitas from my Instant …

Monday Morning Motivation | Seth Godin

“Playing it safe is very risky.” Seth Godin Going beige, attempting to blend in and making sure that we don’t offend anyone is the surest way to be inconsequential and ineffective. It’s based on the belief that by rounding off all the sharp edges and hiding our light we will enhance our acceptance. It’s not true. Fitting in may have been a successful survival strategy in high school, but now it’s a recipe for being ignored. Achieving comfort might be the cultural notion of success, but the only way to coast is to go downhill. Playing it safe is a great way to squander this opportunity called life. So many have been deceived into believing that life is something to …
